Leaf sheep, the new most cute animal

Costasiella kuroshimae, this is the scientific name of this cute little slug, but now she has the name of "leaf sheep" or "leaf slug"

This animal is a sacoglossal sea slug, of which there is very little information yet, but what is surprising is that this animal is the only one capable of photosynthesis.

The slug, whose maximum length is barely 1 cm, feeds on seaweed from where it retains the chloroplasts to carry out this process, this is called kleptoplasty.

The slug lives in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines, since the algae on which it feeds are found in these places. Its habitat is summarized in intertidal zones, which go unnoticed at high tide, but are visible at low tide. By this, we can say that the "leaf sheep" can live off the coast.

From more data on the little information that is available, we can tell that it is a hermaphroditic organism, which lays 2000 to 4000 eggs.

One thing is certain, that these little slugs are very tender and delicate animals to look at.
